Global Legal Confex 2016 – The What’s and Not’s of the IP Laws and Practices in UK
Summary: Events 4 Sure organized the Global IP Conference cum Exhibition in London.
It is no underlying fact that the foundation of UK’s global legislative reforms stand on its strong and stable Intellectual Property Rights, which have essentially benefitted the consumers for a long time now. However, the IP laws and practices are confronting some unprecedented changes in the present times. While the IP system has proven to be effective in prioritizing and protecting interests, nurturing innovation as well as in entrepreneurial thinking, it was probably high time to dig into some thought and opinions with respect to adopting certain best practices.
It was with the very aim to ponder upon the subjects like Intellectual Property, Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, Legal Outsourcing with the purview of both, the legal as well as the corporate sectors and dig in for ways that could help make the scenario more conducive.
The event, which witnesses participants hailing from all parts of the world, ensured that it was completely worth their while, by the means of offering them an unmatched opportunity to take their fair share of knowledge and information from the who’s who of the legal world.
It has been a tradition for Events 4 Sure to commence each ConfEx with an exhilarating Keynote Speech, which was followed in the London mega-event as well. The dais was first graced by Mr. David Kappos who assumes the position of Partner at Corporate Cravath, USA. He has also held the esteemed position of Under Secretary and Director at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Thanks to his commendable knowledge on the subject which is backed by his umpteen achievements; he gave a rather intriguing speech on the subject, ‘Shifting U.S. IP Policy — Recent, Present and Upcoming’. The next speaker for the day to capture the imagination of the law fraternity was Mr. Mike O’ Neill, Managing Director, Optimal Risk Management Limited, UK. Essentially, an advocate of the need for introduction of red team testing and cyber war games, he presented his well aligned thoughts on the imperative subject of ‘Protecting IP from Cyber Threats’.
Successfully conducted on the 16th of March, 2016, at the Queen Elizabeth Centre, the IP Confex witnessed around 250 participants, over 100 in-house lawyers and a whopping 100 speakers from various arenas of the IP framework of UK as well as overseas.
